With another Middle-earth themed flight safety video to showcase, Air New Zealand has upped the ante with "The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made."

The video, which runs for 4.5 minutes, features no less than Lord of the Rings and Hobbit director Peter Jackson in the role of a "director" and the safety video's own director Taika Waititi as an eagle-riding Gandalf.

The presentation provides flight safety information in a light-hearted manner.

The epic video begins with two ordinary travelers rushing to catch their flight until they see Elijah Wood seated just a few feet away from them on the plane. The two passengers start to have a geek-gasm.

An elf flight attendant then relays in fluent Elvish all the safety instructions. The pair is suddenly transported to Middle-earth, much like Frodo and Bilbo Baggins' on their own journey.

Different characters from the world of Tolkien begin to explain all the safety instructions for the aircraft. The video includes several cameos of actors from the Hobbit films.

In closing, Elijah Wood bids the passengers a safe journey with Air New Zealand.

"May your path always be guided by the light of the stars. And may the future bestow upon you all the happiness and adventure our Middle-earth has to offer," he says.

Air New Zealand first teamed up with the Hobbit franchise back in 2012 when Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released in theatres.  The video "An Unexpected Briefing" featured elves, hobbits, dwarves and orcs in Middle-earth attire listening to the pre-flight safety instructions on board the plane.

The original safety video went viral, with more than 12 million unique views from all over the world. This new, even more epic video, is expected to become just as popular as it coincides with the upcoming premiere of the last installment of the trilogy, The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies, in December.
