Ikea furniture has a reputation for being a bit complicated, but now the company is introducing a desk that can raise and lower itself in one easy step. Ikea's Bekant line of desks has a sit and stand function, with the ability to adjust the height from 22" to 48" with the push of a button.

A demonstration video shows how the desk functions. Telescopic legs lift the desk up, making it comfortable to stand while working. When you need a break, just lower the legs back down so you can sit again.

The top of the Bekant desk comes in different shapes and is available in white melamine and black-brown, birch or gray veneer. Prices for the desk start at $469, which is expensive for a normal desk but not compared to other sit and stand models, which can be over $1000.

Many people have sedentary jobs, and that's obviously not good for one's health. Studies have shown that sitting for long periods of time could lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. Not to mention, it's terrible for your posture. Alternating between sitting and standing during work is a small change towards a healthier lifestyle.
