The 2017 Consumer Electronics Show will serve as a launching pad for a slew of new handsets, which could possibly include the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8. If rumors are to be believed, however, LG could steal some of Samsung's thunder since the company is poised to drop an array of devices during the show.

At least seven handsets from LG's K-Series and X-Series in addition to the Stylo 3 Plus will hold court in Las Vegas on Jan. 5 to 8.

Next Generation K-Series Handsets

The K-series could include four handsets, namely the K3, K4, K8, and K10 devices. Each of these is successor to their respective lines. For instance, the new K3 succeeds the 2016 K3 version. Each will, naturally, sport key enhancements but the K10 2017 will purportedly introduce the biggest change of them all.

According to GSMArena, consumers can expect to see 2.5D curved glass on both rear and front panels of the device. If you own an LG K10 2016, then you will know that it is quite a big departure indeed.

Although the current version has earned plaudits for its design, which some say is similar to the construction of previous LG flagship devices, the fact remains that it is made of plastic.

The rest of the phones in the K-series lineup are expected to debut with minor improvements such as slightly larger screens, better cameras or longer battery life.

LG could also expand its X-series range with new models, possibly the LG X power 2 and the LG X calibur. Reports indicate that the former will pack more tech muscle whereas the latter is all about durability. According to Venture Beat, which got the first peek at LG's marketing peripheral for the upcoming handsets, the LG X power 2 will see action at a later date, possibly during the Mobile World Congress 2017. This event will take place by the end of February.

Stylo 3 Plus

The Stylo 3 Plus will likely round up LG's Android offerings at CES. This third-generation stylus-totting handset rocks a 5.7-inch screen and a bigger battery than its predecessor. It will ship with a digital pen, a fingerprint scanner and a 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter.

You've probably noticed that the list exclusively consists of mid-range devices. This could be disappointing for some, but still mid-range devices are no longer shrinking violets at this stage of the smartphone revolution. This is demonstrated by the popular OnePlus 3 and the Xiaomi Mi 5s, so LG may just manage to pull off a pleasant surprise.
