Fritos. Chili. Pizza. These three foods normally don't go together on one plate, but the pizza wizards at Papa John's headquarters have decided to conjure up just that.

In all honesty, it sounds like something that CiCi's Pizza or Little Caesar's would dream up first. Or perhaps some drunk college kids at three in the morning. CiCi's has a mac and cheese pizza after all, and Little Caesars recently introduced a pretzel crust pizza. Pizza Hut would also seem like a logical choice to get this kind of promotion. After all, Pizza Hut and Frito were at one time under the same Yum! Brands banner. Papa Johns has always been a little more refined than their fast-food pizza competitors. Obviously that is no longer the case.

If you aren't 100 percent familiar with what a Frito chili pie is, it is basically meat and cheese poured over a pile of Fritos. It's considered a Southern food staple.

Via Brandeating.com, this pizza then is almost exactly like you would expect it to be - chili, consisting of beef, roma tomatoes and onions; spread across a pizza crust and with Fritos and cheese piled on top. Yep, that definitely sounds like a Fritos chili pie pizza.

It doesn't sound like the most sophisticated pizza ever made. Then again, people really only eat Frito chili pies at fairs and sporting events. Now you can eat the concoction anywhere at anytime, no ballpark required. Papa John's in an advertisement for the pizza says "We're amazed it took 30 years to put it all on a pizza." Somehow the word "amazed" and Frito chili pie don't seem to go together. There is a reason that up until this point Fritos haven't been piled onto a pizza -- because it doesn't sound good. At all. Just because you can, Papa John's, doesn't mean you should.

Papa John's is only offering the pizza for a limited time. If you desperately need a Frito chili pizza in your life, you can order one for $12 through Nov. 23.
