If you're an Indiana Jones fan, then this is piece of information is very important to you. As already known, Indiana Jones is a property of Disney, but the company did not own the rights to market and distribute new films. That right was in the hands of Paramount Pictures up until recently.

Paramount Pictures is the studio that made the first four Indiana Jones movies that went on to make millions at the box office in both the U.S. and the rest of the world.

Now, according to a report from Variety, Disney and Paramount arived at a deal that will give Disney both distribution and marketing rights of future Indiana Jones films. Paramount will keep the rights of the first four movies and nothing more.

From the looks of things, Disney might be interested in creating another Indiana Jones film to help mend the wounds on the 4$ billion acquisition of Lucas Films. Disney didn't speak of a date on when fans should expect to see the new film, but whenever it is, many fans would want Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Indiana Jones.

Still, Disney might choose to remake the Indiana Jones films instead of continuing the story. This would mean that Harrison Ford wouldn't return, but someone new.

Furthermore, sources claim that Steven Spielberg would want to pen the script for the 5th movie, though it is not certain if Disney would be interested in having Spielberg do another Indiana Jones film since the last one, although a hit at the box office, was not a very good movie.

On the matter of George Lucas, he helped Steven Spielberg direct the previous films; however, since Lucas has sold all his stake in Lucasfilms to Disney, it is quite possible he might not return for the 5th movie.

We would prefer Disney to look into a new director just for the sake of bringing new and exciting ideas to the film. Furthermore, rebooting Indiana Jones could be a better idea than continuing with Harrison Ford. He served his time and did a great job. Now it's time to move on.
