The return of the Nokia brand to market has proved to be a smashing hit so far, with the Nokia 6 selling out in just one minute.

Nokia's new parent company, HMD Global, hosted the first Nokia 6 flash sale in China and it took no longer than 60 seconds to sell each and every unit it had in stock.

The sleek Nokia 6 was exclusively available through JingDong Mall, aka JD.com, and the first flash sale generated 1,337,773 preregistrations. While news surfaced that the Nokia 6 completely sold out in one minute, it remains unclear for now just how many units HMD Global had in stock for the first flash sale.

Nokia 6 Price And Specs

The Nokia 6 went on sale in China at 1,699 yuan, which translates to roughly $248. At that price, the smartphone doesn't really offer top-notch specs, although it does pack a punch.

For those unfamiliar with the device, the Nokia 6 features an entry-level Snapdragon 430 64-bit octa-core processor with Adreno 505 graphics, but it rocks 4 GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch full HD display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and 64 GB of native storage space.

Other Nokia 6 specs include a 16-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel selfie cam, a 3,000 mAh battery, dual SIM support, a front-mounted fingerprint scanner below the display, stereo speakers and Android 7.0 Nougat on board out of the box.

Even with an entry-level processor, the rest of the smartphone's specifications make it a top offer at that price point. The device also sports a high-quality build and the durability that made the Nokia brand famous worldwide. Just recently, for instance, a Nokia 6 video showed the smartphone cracking walnuts with its display and rear case, without taking any damage.

With this in mind, the whopping success of the Nokia 6 doesn't come as much of a surprise and the smartphone would likely be even more popular if it were not exclusive to China.

The next Nokia 6 flash sale is expected to take place sometime next week, but JD.com has yet to announce an official date.

Nokia Android Smartphones

HMD Global has more Nokia-branded Android smartphones in the works and it's expected to unveil the Nokia 8 and Nokia P1 soon enough, possibly at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017 trade show that kicks off in late February in Barcelona.

Although the Nokia 6 launched only in China, future Nokia-branded devices are expected to see a wider release and reach more markets, including the United States.

If the resounding success of the first Nokia 6 is any indication, HMD might consider a global release for Nokia smartphones sooner rather than later. At this rate, the Nokia brand could soon relive its glory days as one of the most popular brands on the mobile market, although it now has HMD pulling its strings.
