LG is trying increase its foothold in the smartphone space by providing its customers with affordable devices.

The South Korean company launched two entry-level Android-powered smartphones earlier this week — the LG X300 and the LG Aristo.

While the LG X300 was launched in its home country, South Korea, the LG Aristo was introduced in the United States through T-Mobile and MetroPCS. The LG X300 and LG Aristo are almost the same, other than the fact that LG X300 has 2 GB of RAM and LG Aristo comes with 1.5 GB of RAM.

Now rumor has it that the company has yet another smartphone in the works which has the moniker LG X230. Judging by the name, it can be safely assumed that LG X230 is a lower version of LG X300.

The handset has been listed on Geekbench, which offers a peek into the specs of the alleged LG smartphone. The Geekbench listing reveals that the LG X230 was certified in October 2016.

This is not the first time that the LG X230 has been in the news. Recently, the handset was spotted at Bluetooth Special Interest Group or SIG for certification, which has fueled predictions that the device is close to official launch.

While the Bluetooth SIG listing did not specify any specs of the phone, it did reveal the existence of the LG X230.

LG X230 Specs

The benchmark listing reveals that the LG handset will be powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor, clocked at 1.09 GHz. Sadly, the LG X230 will come with only 1 GB of RAM and will run on the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

This news is disappointing as the X230's upgraded model X300 and the LG Aristo, come with 2 GB of RAM and 1.5 GB of RAM, respectively. Both the devices come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The single-core score for the X230 device is 441, whereas the multi-core score is 1247.

Although there has been no news regarding the pricing and availability of this new smartphone, judging by the specs it can be safely assumed that it is targeting budget buyers.

LG To Tie Up With Google?

Other than providing the world with affordable and cheap smartphones, LG is also focusing on integrating Google's smart assistant in its upcoming smartphone LG G6. According to a Tech Times report, LG is in talks with Google to port the smart assistant before the launch of its new flagship.

It is expected that LG G6 will debut by the end of February and release in LG's home country, South Korea, on March 10. Whether the entry-level LG X230 will also be quietly announced alongside the flagship smartphone remains to be seen.
