With its mid-range phone Nokia 6 becoming a smash hit - it sold out in a minute during the flash sale - HMD Global has set its sights on conquering the smartphone space.

The Nokia brand has made a great comeback and the company is allegedly looking to announce its Nokia P1 and Nokia 8 smartphones soon. These two handsets may be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor.

On its official Weibo account, Nokia China has apparently confirmed rumors about the Nokia flagship running on the latest Qualcomm processor. The news comes courtesy of a NokiaPowerUser report.

"In a reply posted by [the] Nokia China official Weibo account there are two big claims/confirmations. The first claim/confirmation is about a rumor, which is making rounds already. Yes, about a Nokia Flagship with Snapdragon 835. The account sort of confirms that such a Nokia Android Phone is in [the] works but will take time in coming out," notes the publication.

Reportedly, the two Android phones would take some more time to be launched to the market. The company has so far not divulged much information about the handsets as it is looking to surprise the fans with its upcoming flagship device, possibly at the Mobile World Congress 2017.

Smartphone makers like LG and Huawei are also planning to showcase some of their latest flagship devices at the MWC 2017. It remains to be seen how Nokia fares with its P1 smartphone.

Nokia P1 Rumored Specs

The Nokia P1 will allegedly be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor and come with a 5.3-inch IGZO display coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is expected to house 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The handset will also be equipped with a 24-megapixel rear camera and house a 3,500 mAh battery.

Reports also suggest that this new handset's design has been inspired from Sharp's Aquos Xx3.

The excitement is rising as the Nokia P1 is said to come pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat and may possess an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which shall be accompanied by an IP55 or IP57 rating.

Nokia 8 Rumored Specs

The Nokia 8 is also expected to debut in the coming months and may feature a Snapdragon 835 processor. This handset is expected to have a 5.7-inch Quad HD display. It will also boast a 24-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel secondary camera.

The pricing of the rumored Nokia phones is not known.

Nokia and HMD Global are poised to take the stage at the MWC 2017 on Feb. 26, but it remains to be seen if the Nokia 8 and the Nokia P1 are announced at the trade show.
