Two brothers are now allowed to roam the earth as free men after they have been released from prison. The brothers, Raymond and Thomas Highers were sent to prison back in 1988 due to the killing of a drug dealer called Robert Karey.

For 25-years, it was thought that the brothers killed Karey, but luckily for them, a long time eye witness finally came forward.

The whole thing is quite impressive, as if it came out of a well-written book. From what we have come to understand, a lawyer who is based in Washington, Kevin Zieleniewski, chose to check up on his former Detroit friends on Facebook, only to find out that the brothers were spending time in prison for murder.

Right away, Zieleniewski remembered something that happened back when he was in law school. This was the moment that truly saved the Highers brothers from spending the rest of their lives in prison.

Kevin Zieleniewski memory kicked in as he remembered something that occurred six years after the murder took place. A friend of him had mentioned that he was at the drug dealer's house at the time of the shooting. Apparently, the house was jumped by armed black men who asked them to leave. Soon after that, a shot was fired, and Karey was killed.

Now, the brothers who were convicted of murdering Robert Karey are white, so it means they were not the ones who pulled the trigger on that day.

Zieleniewski convinced his old classmate to come forward to the police with his account of the situation that took place. As it stands right now, his recollection of the incident managed to get both brothers out of prison after being locked up for 25 years for a crime they did not commit.

We have to wonder why the former classmate did not say a word to the police back then. Probably he was scared for this life as that is the only logical answer for him staying silent all these years.

It is clear that the justice system has failed the Highers brothers, and they should be compensated handsomely by the state. We also have to wonder how many people are currently spending time in prison for crimes they did not commit.
