The year 2014 isn't over yet, but already Beyonce Knowles has grabbed the title of highest paid female performer. This shouldn't come as a surprise as the star has been on a role all year.

Back in 2013, Beyonce took the number 4 spot on the Forbes list of highest paid female entertainer for the year. Taylor Swift claimed the top spot, but things are different in 2014 as Beyonce's tour with husband, Jay-Z, was a massive success that featured in the media on a regular basis.

According to Forbes Magazine on Tuesday, Beyonce earned $115 million for the year, a sum that nearly doubles the amount the star made back in 2013. The magazine credited the star's surprise self-titled studio album that was released back in December of 2013, and the 95 concerts over the course of 2014.

This is a special moment for the star, as it is not every time a female entertainer crosses the $100 million barrier.

At second place on the list, former number 3, Taylor Swift, managed to walk away with $64 million for the year. That is a distant second from Beyonce, but still impressive nonetheless. In third position, rock star Pink came away with $52 million in earnings for the year, which is not bad for the aging star.

Not too far behind the top three, Rihanna managed to earn $48 million for the year. The star didn't do much for 2014 apart from twerking and giving male patrons lap dances at her concerts, so it is surprising she even made the top 5 on the list.

Rounding off the top 5, Katy Perry earned a decent $40 million for the year.

Beyond the top 5 on the list, we have Madonna, the 56-year-old entertainer who took the number one spot in 2013, utterly failed to make the top 10 this year. We're shocked to find out she made the top spot back in 2013, but as the saying goes, "stars grow old, but they never die."

Finally, Lady Gaga slipped from the number two spot to 9th place on the list for 2014. She could only muster an earnings of $38 million, but that should be good enough.
