When it launched the PlayStation 4 Pro back in November, Sony touted a more powerful gaming console with higher resolution and framerates basically across the board.

However, as powerful and mighty as the PS4 Pro may be, it can't do much on its own — it still needs games that support high 4K resolutions. Sony's PS4 Pro announcement sent developers scrambling to support the extra oomph and some have already started to deliver.

The upcoming PS4 4.50 system update will bring a bevy of new features, including support for external hard drives, but that's not all. Some of the biggest titles are also ready to support 4K UHD on the PS4 Pro and Rocket League is one of them.

Rocket League PS4 Pro 4K Support

"On February 21, we will release a new update that allows Rocket League to run at both 1080p (on a standard PS4) and 4K (on PS4 Pro) at 60 frames per second in all arenas for single and two-player split-screen modes," Sony reveals in a new announcement on is PlayStation blog. "Three and four-player split-screen modes will offer 60 frames per second in most arenas at the same resolutions."

In addition to supporting 4K at 60 fps, Rocket League's upcoming update will also bring a number of other optimizations to further enhance the experience. New treats include Hot Wheels premium DLC cars, Bone Shaker and Twin Mill III (available for purchase separately), extra Hot Wheels-themed item drops after a match (available for free), a new "Player's Choice Crate" that will include the favorite items voted by the community, a number of bug fixes and performance optimizations, as well as technical improvements specific to the PS4.

Rocket League may not have won gamers' hearts from the very beginning, but it has nonetheless become one of the world's biggest games. Offered at first as a free download on the PS4 via the PlayStation Plus, the title rapidly gained momentum and racked up millions of downloads during the PS Pkus promotion. The game then returned to its paid download status and it still continued to attract fans, ranking as a best seller for a good while now.

Xbox One gamers can also play Rocket League, but the higher resolutions and framerate options are not in the mix just yet. An update could deliver the extra oomph once Xbox Project Scorpio hits the scene, but it remains to be seen. On the PC, meanwhile, Rocket League already supports unlocked resolutions and framerates, provided that the PC supports the higher ratings as well.

Other Games To Get Updates For PS4 Pro

PS4 Pro support currently varies from game to game, but more titles are expected to get sharper renderings and greater textures in the near future. Titles that should soon receive such updates include Hitman, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Fallout 4, and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

GameSpot has a constantly-updated list of PS4 Pro-friendly games and the list is growing as new titles add support. Even if some games don't get the patch in the near future, the PS4 Pro has the neat Boost Mode beta that can bump up the framerate for basically every game.
