'Dumb and Dumber To' is king of the box office, as the film managed to make $38.1 million on its first outing. Harry and Lloyd are laughing their way to the bank, but critics are not impressed.

Reviews of the film so far give the impression of a movie that is not worth watching. Children love it, but adults might look at it different as the jokes are said to be boring and predictable. Maybe Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels should have let this one pass them by.

At the end of the day though, the movie is winning at the box office, and that matters most when compared to the quality and other aspects that are the building blocks of a great movie.

Still, despite taking the box office, 'Dumb and Dumber To' had to battle with 'Big Hero 6' for the number one spot. The Disney animated film is still riding high and has so far crossed the $100 million mark. We do not expect it to perform along the same level as Frozen, but it should do well nonetheless.

Furthermore, with 'Dumb and Dumber To' proving to be a terrible film, we believe it will fall below the top 3 come next week. 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' is hitting theaters on Nov. 21, so this boring comedy will not be able to hold on to the top spot. 'Big Hero 6' and 'Interstellar' are still doing well, so expect Jim Carey and friends to grab on to 4th place.

Beyond the Lights is another movie that launched on Friday. If reviews are anything to go by, 'Beyond the Lights' is a better film than 'Dumb and Dumber To,' but it only managed to walk away with over $6 million at the box office. It is a low-budget movie that cost a mere $7 million to make.

We suspect there wasn't enough money to go around for a massive advertisement call, hence the $6 million income for the first weekend.

All in all, November and December should be a great time for Hollywood. Several big blockbuster films include the new 'Hunger Games' and the final chapter in the story of 'The Hobbit.'
