The home version of arcade fighting game Tekken 7, first announced in October 2015, will finally arrive to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 2.

It was expected to be released in 2016, but the date was delayed to early this year and then pushed back even further to June 2. Tekken game director Katsuhiro Harada explained that the delay was to give more time to the development team to polish the title, so Tekken 7 should prove to be worth the wait for fans of the franchise.

'Tekken 7' Details

The story of Tekken 7 is said to be a dark one, with the game to feature the conclusion of the Mishima clan saga.

One of the new mechanics in Tekken 7 is Rage Arts, which players can activate when their character nears death. Once Rage Arts is activated, the damage that fighters will deal will increase as their health further decreases.

Tekken 7 will also feature Power Crush, which allows players to continue launching attacks while they receive damage. This makes for an interesting dynamic of choosing whether or not it is worth it to take some hits if it means being able to land some attacks as well.

Tekken 7 also includes the first Saudi fighter in the franchise, a bodyguard named Shaheen. A recently released gameplay trailer featuring the new character reveals that he has an acrobatic fighting style, with most of his attacks focused on kicks.

Shaheen is one of the 38 playable characters in Tekken 7, of which eight are new to the franchise. Three of the fighters will be unlocked over the coming months after the game's release.

Unfortunately, because of potential security risks brought by the prevalence of cheating and hacking among PC gamers, Tekken 7 will not allow cross-platform play.

'Tekken 7' Special Offers

Early this year, Namco revealed that it will release a Tekken 7 Collector's Edition for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that will include a 12-by-18-inch statue of Tekken mainstays Heihachi and Kazuya locked in battle, along with a special Steelbook and the game's official soundtrack.

Namco will also offer a Season Pass that will give gamers access to three planned content packs for Tekken 7, which will include new characters, new stages, a new game mode, costume packs, and a Metallic Costume pack. There will also be a Tekken 7 Digital Deluxe Edition that bundles the game with the Season Pass.

Xbox One players who preorder Tekken 7 will also receive Tekken 6 for free to maximize the backward compatibility feature of the the console. PlayStation 4 players, meanwhile, will gain exclusive content including Tekken 2 and Tekken 4 costumes for King, Xiaoyu, and Jin. Players who preorder on any platform will receive DLC access to Eliza, the vampire fighter who was added to the game in Tekken Revolution.

'Tekken 7' ESRB Rating

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has given a Teen rating to Tekken 7. This is partly due to some of the female fighters wearing costumes that show off "deep cleavage" and scenes such as a male character peeking at a woman while in the shower and a man falling face-first into a woman's chest.

There is also said to be a scene involving pizza with laxatives, and it is not hard to imagine how that turns out.

'Tekken 7' Lands On June 2

June 2 is less than two months away, so the wait is almost over for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC gamers to begin playing Tekken 7 at home.

Tekken 7 has long been delayed, but gamers will soon be able to dive into the latest installment in the long-running and iconic fighting game franchise.
