The highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi 6 is finally official and it's quite impressive, packing the latest Snapdragon processor, a hefty 6 GB of RAM, and more high-end specs all around.

Following months of rumors and leaks, Xiaomi officially took the wraps off its latest flagship, launching the sleek Xiaomi Mi 6 in China. Based on the spec sheet, it's the company's most powerful smartphone to date, so here's what it has to offer.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Specs

The new Xiaomi MI 6 powerhouse features a 5.15-inch display just like the Mi 5 before it, complete with the same full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. It's not the top-notch QHD resolution of other recent flagships, but the Mi 6 doesn't cost as much as other recent flagships either (more about the price later).

Other specs include the powerful Snapdragon 835 processor that's also powering the new Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship, making the Xiaomi Mi 6 among the very first smartphones to rock Qualcomm's latest processor. The octa-core Snapdragon 835 runs at 2.45 GHz and is paired with Adreno 540 graphics and 6 GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 further packs either 64 GB or 128 GB of storage, a dual rear camera setup with 12-megapixel shooters, a dual-LED flash and a dual-tone flash, an 8-megapixel front camera, dual SIM support, a large 3,350 mAh battery, and Android Nougat out of the box, with the company's own MIUI 8 on top.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Design

When it comes to design, the new Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a metal and glass construction with a curved back that makes it look and feel premium. The volume rocker and the power / lock buttons are located on the right side of the device, while the SIM tray is on the left.

On the downside, just like Apple's iPhone 7 and a few other smartphones after it, the Xiaomi Mi 6 does not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Mi 6 does, however, boast stereo speakers, Qualcomm's Sense ID fingerprint authentication with the fingerprint scanner embedded under the display, and a USB-Type C port. The smartphone is also splash-resistant, which means it should easily handle the occasional spill without taking any damage.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Price, Options And Availability

The handset comes in White, Black and Blue color options, as well as two extra special edition avatars — the Silver Edition and Ceramic. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic features 18-karat gold camera rims.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is set to go on sale in China on April 28 through the company's website, Mi Home stores, as well as a number of partner sites in the country. The 64 GB model costs 2,499 yuan ($363), the 128 GB variant costs 2,899 yuan ($421), while the special model with a ceramic back panel goes up to 2,999 yuan ($436).

Xiaomi has yet to announce any details on a global release, but is expected to offer more information shortly. On the downside, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will most likely not launch in the United States anytime soon. Does the new Xiaomi Mi 6 seem like an attractive proposition?
