There have been several product recalls in April, especially for those that were contaminated by harmful bacteria, mislabeled, packaged with a foreign object (or life form), or present some form of danger to consumers regardless of proper usage. Now, a well-loved snack brand just joined the list of companies that announced a product recall in April.
On April 21, Frito-Lay published a news release on its website to announce that it voluntarily recalls select jalapeño-flavored chips over possible salmonella contamination.
Product Recall Announcement
Frito-Lay explains that the potential salmonella contamination may be present in the jalapeño seasoning powder of affected products. The company notes, however, that not all of its jalapeño-flavored chips are affected by the recall. In fact, the recall is just the company's response to a recent recall by one of its seasoning suppliers.
"Although no Salmonella was found in the seasoning supplied to Frito-Lay, the company has decided to recall these products out of an abundance of caution," Frito-Lay writes.
Affected consumers are those who recently purchased Jalapeño Flavored Lay's Kettle Cooked potato chips and Jalapeño Flavored Miss Vickie's Kettle Cooked potato chips so.
Frito-Lay reveals that the affected products were distributed throughout the United States via food service, retail stores, vending machines, and other channels. The list below contains the product names and what to look for in the packaging to determine if the purchased snack is affected.
