A live-action adaptation of the popular anime Attack on Titan is being made in Japan, and thanks to some new posters we have our first look at the cast in costume.

Set in a world where humanity is confined to living within massive walls out of fear of the man-eating Titans, Attack on Titan is known for not pulling punches when it comes to violence and killing off established characters. Whereas the anime makes a point of an interracial cast uniting to face the horror of the Titans, it looks like the movie will feature an all Japanese cast (it is being filmed and created for Japanese audiences, after all.) The movie stars Miura Haruma as Eren, Mizuhara Kiko as Mikasa, Shu Watanabe as Fukushi, Ayame Misaki as Hiana, and Rina Takeda as Lil. Fukushi, Hiana and Lil are all brand new characters for the film.

Another departure from the anime is the film's more modern setting. The show Attack on Titan is set in a medieval/steam punk world where cannons and guns exist, but razor sharp swords are used as the primary means for defeating Titans. One character from the film in a poster below can be seen holding an RPG, and the film was also shot on deserted island nicknamed Gunkanjima or "Battleship Island." The buildings located on the island are very much of modern design.
