Several TV shows are advertising their mid-season finale and will not air again until in 2014. One such TV show going on hiatus until 2014 is Arrow, arguably  the best comic book series on TV right now. Warner Brothers and DC have done a great job with the first season, and the second is shaping up quite nicely to topple the first. The latest episode is called "Three Ghost," and it's so perfect that the whole season could have ended right then and there.

Three Ghost is a follow up of last week's episode "The Scientist" where we get to see Barry Allen (The Flash) for the first time. Barry Allen, however, has yet to become the Flash, so he's just a normal person seeking answers to a supernatural incident that happened in his past. Barry did return in Three Ghost as the person who saved Oliver's [Arrow] life after he was accidentally injected with poison during a battle with Cyrus Gold, the man who will eventually become Solomon Grundy.

The writers did a great not to turn this episode into a Christmas theme as several times it appeared as if things would have taken that route. At one point we have Oliver and Moira at the Christmas tree, and Laurel alongside Brother Blood doing a little Christmas shopping.

After Barry Allen helped Oliver out of his poison problem, he began to have hallucinations. At first the hallucinations were believed to be caused by the rat poison Allen injected into his system, but we later find out that it was all a physiological thing. To me, that was the weakest part of the whole episode because it would have been better to blame it on the rat poison rather than a psychological problem.

During the hallucination, Oliver saw his dead best friend Tommy, along with his friends on the island, Shado and Slade. Tommy wants Oliver to never give up, Shado wants him to give up, and Slade basically wants him dead. It didn't take long for us to find out that Shado died on the island from a bullet to the back of her head, one of the most shocking and sad events in the season so far.

Furthermore, Roy Harper is still coming off as annoying as ever, along with his girlfriend, Thia Queen. He pushed so hard to find out what happened to his dead friend that he ended up being captured by Cyrus Gold and brought to Brother Blood. During his capture, Blood injected him with the superhuman strength serum; sadly, Oliver in his  Arrow costume crashed the party a little too late. He managed to defeat Cyrus Gold, and in the process potentially killing and turning him into Solomon Grundy.

Roy was brought back to the Queen's mansion and Barry Allen returned to Central City, but not before leaving Oliver a special parting gift.

Now, while the whole season was splendid, this particular scene stole the night. Barry is home in Central City, and we see where he nearly died and got turned into the Flash. This was a powerful moment, and also a sad one because Barry is not scheduled to return in Arrow. Apparently, DC and Warner are hoping to formulate a Flash TV series, and that's where he will be.

Great episode overall and we can't wait to see what happens when the season continues on January 15, 2014.
