PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the record-breaking Battle Royale-inspired multiplayer shooter, finally has a launch date on the Xbox One.

Progress on the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds full release was also revealed, as players have been waiting for version 1.0 of the game's PC version since the initial launch date of September was delayed.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Xbox One Release Date

In an Xbox Wire post, PUBG Corp. CEO Chang Han Kim said that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will finally launch on the Xbox One on Dec. 12.

The game will be a console launch exclusive for the Xbox One, as it finally picks up an exclusive that can rival those held by the PlayStation 4.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on the Xbox One, however, will be on the Xbox Game Preview program. This means that players will have early access to the game as it is being developed. If that sounds familiar, that is because the same thing is happening for the PC version of the game.

The Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be very similar to the one that has broken Steam records on the PC. The only change is the ability of players to vault over obstacles, which will also be coming to the PC version soon.

As both the PC and Xbox One versions of the game move toward full releases, the plan is to align the two versions as closely as possible.

"We want to unify them eventually, we want to give the same experience across both platforms," said PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Greene, in an interview with Mashable. Starting on Steam's Early Access and on the Xbox Game Preview programs will allow the two versions of the game to gather valuable player feedback before their full releases.

To celebrate the Xbox One launch of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, three limited-edition cosmetic packs will be offered. These are the Warrior pack, the Accessory Pack, and the Tracksuit Pack. The packs will be exclusive to the console and will be the only items that can be purchased during the preview period of the title on the Xbox One.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Full Release Progress

Developer Bluehole Studio has been hard at work in preparing the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds full release, with updates that include increased Blue Zone damage and initiatives to ban cheaters.

In the Xbox Wire post, Kim said that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds version 1.0 for the PC is on track to be rolled out in late December. A specific release date was not indicated, but the assurance that the full release will be launched this year might be enough for players who have been looking forward to it.
