It's official -- filming for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a wrap. Cinematographer Larry Fong made the announcement today via Instagram.

 That's a wrap.

Though production on the film has wrapped, it will still be a long time before fans get to see the final product. Batman v Superman was originally slated to release on July 17, 2015 before then moving to May 6, 2016. Under that date, the film that will serve as the launch pad for the DC cinematic universe was set to premiere on the same day as Marvel's Captain America: Civil War.

For a long time neither DC or Marvel seemed willing to change release dates, and May 6 was shaping up to be a clash between the two comic giants. DC and Warner Bros. would eventually decide on moving Batman v Superman's release date up several months. It will now premiere on March 26, 2016.

With the release date for the film so far away, that leaves plenty of time for rumors, teasers and wild speculation from the fanbase. Like Fong's Instagram, for instance. What exactly does it mean? Well, it is black, so it is most likely something Batman related. Some fans think it might be a piece of Batman's armor or something similar, but it's hard to say for certain.

In the rumor department, the latest is that Superman villain Doomsday may be appearing in the film, along with a version of the Batman villain KGBeast. We already know other superheroes like the Flash, Wonder Woman and Cyborg will also be making appearances in preparation for WB's Justice League film.

All the while we will patiently wait for the film's first trailer. Considering Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens just got a teaser trailer more than a year in advance, perhaps fans won't have to wait too long for their first look at Ben Affleck's Batman in action.
