Nest has big news to share: a new Temperature Sensor is now up for pre-order, while its video doorbell and smart lock have started shipping.

The company keeps expanding its offerings for smart homes, and it already has many devices in its portfolio. The new Temperature Sensor, however, aims to make things a little better.

Nest Temperature Sensor

The Nest Temperature Sensor comes at an affordable $39 price point, and it's now available for pre-order with shipments scheduled to begin in April. Nest is also offering a three-pack for pre-order, priced at $99, allowing for some savings when buying in bulk. The device plays nice with Nest's smart thermostats to keep certain rooms at the desired temperature.

The setup is pretty easy - just place it on a shelf or a wall, head over to the Nest app to add it to the Nest system, then select the temperature for the respective room. Those with several sensors in different rooms can also set which sensor to prioritize at which time.

According to Nest, each Nest Thermostat can support pairing with up to six Temperature Sensors. For best results, it's recommended to place each sensor within 50 feet from the thermostat it's paired with.

On the downside, it only works with the latest Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E, not the first- or second-generation thermostats. Those with older models will either have to get a newer Nest thermostat, or skip the Temperature Sensor. No bundles are currently available to get both a thermostat and a sensor at the same time at a lower price.

While a separate Temperature Sensor is not absolutely necessary, it does help improve the system's accuracy and ensure that the temperature is just right in certain rooms.

Nest Hello And Nest x Yale Now Shipping

Nest has also finally started shipping the smart Nest x Yale door lock and the much-hyped Nest Hello video doorbell, priced at $249 and $229, respectively. The Next x Yale Lock is also available in a bundle with Nest Connect at $279.

"Nest products are designed to keep your home secure, outside and in. And with the addition of our new lock and doorbell, they work even better because they work together," says Nest. "When you unlock your door with the Nest x Yale Lock, the Nest Secure alarm system disarms automatically, without you having to tap your key fob or use the Nest app. Your indoor cameras turn off to protect your privacy, and your thermostat turns up to make you cozy. All automatically."

The Nest Hello video doorbell, meanwhile, allows people to see who's at the door without actually going to check.
