Motorola's Moto Z3 Play has been in the news recently thanks to a series of leaked images that started circulating online.

These leaked images were either concept images based on the phone's known specs, features and design, or case renders that hid the phone behind a case.

Moto Z3 Play's First Official Render

The first official render of Motorola's Moto Z3 Play has finally arrived, giving the tech world a good clean look at the Chicago-based company's upcoming third-generation smartphone.

Leaked by an unnamed source, the image showcases the front and rear side of the device in great detail, confirming some of the rumors about the phone's design.

Fingerprint Sensor Moved To The Side

The render image confirmed rumors that Motorola has removed the home button/fingerprint sensor from the front panel, where it was located on the Moto Z Play and Moto Z2 Play. Instead, it placed it on the side to make room for a nearly bezel-less screen.

There is a possibility that Motorola will follow Sony's footsteps and have the fingerprint scanner built into the Moto Z3 Play's power button as the render image shows an elongated button on the phone's side, under the volume rocker. This has been backed up by a report published earlier this month.

The relocation of the home button/fingerprint sensor has allowed Motorola to offer a 6-inch display with Full HD+ (2,160 x 1,080) resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Dual Camera Setup And No Audio Jack

The image also revealed a large, circular dual camera setup on the rear panel of the Moto Z3 Play. According to reports, the upcoming smartphone will feature a main 12-megapixel sensor alongside a secondary 8-megapixel lens, coupled with a dual-tone LED flash.

The rear panel also includes a 16-pin connector, so it's safe to assume that the Moto Z3 Play will be compatible with Moto Mods. What's missing from the image is a headphone jack but that's probably because the render does not provide a clear look at all sides of the handset. However, on the Z2 Play, the audio jack was located on the left-hand side of the charging port and previous reports have pegged its absence.

Other Specs And Information

According to the Moto Z3 Play's FCC listing, the phone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 636 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, and 32 GB or 64 GB of storage.

The Snapdragon 636 is a notable upgrade from its predecessor; Snapdragon 630. According to Qualcomm, the Kyo 260 CPU in the 636 is up to 40 percent more powerful than Snapdragon 630.
