Consumers don't have to spend close to a $1,000 just to get a phone with a stylus. Sure, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is probably the best choice out there, but those who don't want their pockets greatly penalized should look at this alternative from LG.

Enter the Stylo 4, which has now arrived as an Amazon Prime exclusive. Originally $300, the phone now only costs $250, with a 6.2-inch display and a stylus to boot.

LG Stylo 4 Specs

The phone has a screen resolution of just above 1080p, and it even includes a built-in slot to put the stylus in when unused, just like the Galaxy Note 8. If the user pulls out the stylus, they can immediately start writing — even if the screen is locked. Pull the stylus out when the phone is unlocked, however, and a number of options will appear, including taking down notes, launching an app, or recording a GIF.

If those features sound familiar, it's because they're all found on the Galaxy Note 8. The Note series, however, are far more expensive handsets, and the Stylo 4 is just a fraction of the price. Of course, the Stylo 4 isn't as premium-looking and fast as the Galaxy Note 8, but those who don't really care about fancy-schmancy benchmarks and just want a good stylus experience without paying too much should definitely consider this phone.

The specs sheet is par for the course considering the Stylo 4 is a midrange phone, although honestly it doesn't look that bad. There's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chip onboard, plus 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of local storage. It's running Android Oreo and features a USB-C port, by the way, which is rare for a midrange handset. There's also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and — much to the delight of wired fans out there — a headphone jack.

There's Just One Thing...

There's just one caveat, though. Because the Stylo 4 is an Amazon Prime exclusive, it comes with Amazon-branded bloatware, such as Audible, Prime Video, Amazon Shopping, and Alexa. That's not too bad considering it's $50 cheaper than the regular price, though.

Thoughts about the phone? Do you think LG should release more midrange handsets with a stylus? As always, if you have anything to share, feel free to sound them off in the comments section below!
