Even listening to music is now so easy that once you fall asleep, your music will also end as you wish. Though this is not a new technology as televisions had already sleep timer on its settings, Spotify is now offering to give this feature to its users, not just for Android phones but for iOS. 

Spotify Adds 'Sleep Timer' on Android and iOS

In May, Spotify already released the 'Sleep Timer' feature—letting its users doze off to sleep while music is playing on their desired time limit. However, this feature is only made available for Android phone users.

After a few months, Spotify now announces that they will put the same 'sleep timer' feature on iOS or iPhone users. In this way, iPhone users can use Spotify timer to stop their phones or gadgets from playing music while saving their battery life even after falling asleep. 

But do iPhone users really need this new feature? Or are they already contented with the iOS Clock app, which has a similar ability as Spotify's? 

Spotify Sleep Timer vs. iOS Clock App

For non-iPhone users, maybe using Spotify Sleep Timer to stop music is an essential thing. But for iPhone users, dealing with Sleep Timer is a no brainer as this feature is already part of its system since iOS 7, and that's what iPhone users already do ever since. 

How to Use Spotify Sleep Timer and iOS Clock App

To compare what is more convenient for music lovers out there, here are the steps to follow to play 'sleep timer' on Spotify and iOS. 

For Spotify users, first, click the app. Go to the playlist or the track you wanted to listen to before you fall asleep. Once you're finished, you can now click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the app and find the option 'sleep timer.' You can set the timer from five minutes up to one hour based on your preference—and you're done! 

Now, for iPhone users using the iOS clock app, go to the iOS clock app and tap the timer option at the bottom of the screen. Set the desired time you think you're already asleep and select When Timer Ends. After this, select Stop Playing on the bottom and tap Set to save your sleep timer. Once done, click Start to start the timer. All music or videos that are playing on the device will be stopped, and the device will lock to save your battery from draining. 

The Final Verdict

Obviously, Spotify having its sleep timer feature on its app is a more convenient thing compared to the iOS clock app. No more clicking anywhere on your phone or finding that clock app. It all just depends on the three-dot menu. However, the iOS clock app for iPhone and iPad users can also be more energy-friendly compared to Spotify's. 

It can stop every system that's operating on your phones, thus, making it energy efficient since you do not need to charge it all over again the next day. Aside from that, who will forget the rivalry between Apple Music and Spotify? Now, that's another debate. 

So, between convenience or energy-efficiency, which one will you choose?
