Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem launch trailer has been released. However, fans say something about it isn't right. Observers have it that the trailer has left the company as it takes criticism; just the story itself is set for release. Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem was released on Dec, 3, and Her Interactive has already revealed a launch trailer as a showcase to fans, what kind of adventure gameplay is there to look forward to. As the trailer teaser, "unbelievable stories," has it, the Hardy Boys and puzzle gameplay are also into it.

Nevertheless, the said trailer is doing a great job making fans feel more excited about this new Nancy Drew story; some viewers of Midnight in Salem are seemingly unhappy. Fans took Twitter and YouTube to criticize Her Interactive because of the graphics used. They ask why such images look quite bad. One YouTube user comments, "The lip-syncing from Message in a Haunted mansion from 2001" is better than this. Then, another fan jokes that the game's developer "hit reset on the graphics."

The Fans' Expectation

On Twitter, a Nancy Drew fan considered the graphics very disappointing. However, this aficionado also said that despite the disappointing graphics, they are still looking forward to playing the new game. Seemingly too, that few fans of Nancy Drew were anticipating the game to look like this. The latest Nancy Drew game has been delayed so many times already as its developers discovered how to develop games that have the Unity engine, while other games also in the series had utilized a different play engine.

Aside from the game's look on the trailer, fans got disappointed by the delays, too. They were happy, though, to wait for it if it meant higher quality for both the gameplay and graphics of the game itself. This does not seem to have happened, being the reason or the posts of the fans on social media that contained all disappointments.

33rd of the 'Nancy Drew Adventure' Series

Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem is the 33rd game in The Nancy Drew Adventure Series. Based on Nancy Drew's novel, it was in 2015 when Her Interactive first announced that there would be some delays in the Midnight in Salem launch until Fall of 2016. Then after another setback with the release, the developer again announced in 2017 that the game would be launched in Spring 2019.

This particular release would be intended for Mac and PCs, just like the previously released Nancy Drew games. However, it has the potential for expansion to consoles, tablets, and virtual reality (VR) platforms. Early this year, Her Interactive again made an announcement that Midnight in Salem would be released in November this year. Pre-orders were already set to start on October 1. But then still on that day, the developer announced once more that pre-orders were delayed for two more weeks.

For those new to the game, Nancy Drew is the title character and protagonist in the mystery novels of the same title. Nancy is a teenage girl, an amateur detective who lives with her father in a small town at River Heights. Her two best friends, George Fayne and Bess Marvin, often assist her in her every crime investigation. Occasionally too, she is assisted by the Hardy Boys or Ned Nickerson, her boyfriend.
