The New Nintendo Switch system may not be as high-tech and groundbreaking as its competitors, but it still brings joy to loyal Nintendo fans. With its extensive library of games that date back from multiple console generations, no one can go wrong with purchasing this console.

But what many users don't like about it is its rather short battery life. While the updated version's battery life of 4.5 to 9 hours and the Lite's three to seven hours are comparably longer than the previous version's battery life of 2.5 to 6.5 hours, these are still not enough to provide an interrupted gaming experience. If you have always wondered how you can extend your Nintendo Switch's battery life, here's how.

How to Extend Nintendo Switch Battery Life

Here are some setting tweaks you can try to conserve battery life and enjoy longer gaming time on your Nintendo Switch or Switch Lite:

Hack #1: Lower the Brightness

Lowering the screen brightness is the number one energy booster. From the main system UI, just long-press the Home button on your right Joy-Con controller. You can also do this while in-game.

Hack #2: Turn on Airplane Mode

When turned on, the internet and wireless communication features of your Switch can drain its battery fast. Enable Airplane Mode if you're not playing online multiplayer to save battery.

Hack #3: Turn on Auto-Sleep Mode

There are times when you have to pee or take a break from long hours of playing, so you have to pause your game and set your console aside. Instead of just leaving the screen on, try saving battery during breaks by turning on the Auto Sleep mode. Go to the System Settings, and you'll find the Sleep Mode option right away.

Hack #4: Turn Off Controller Vibrations

Sensors and vibrations add a sense of thrill to the gaming experience, but these features also consume battery. If you're all for conserving all the extra energy you can, disable the Controller Vibration function. Simply go to the Settings menu and click Controllers and Sensors to turn off this feature.

How to Find the Settings Menu on Nintendo Switch

In case you need help in finding the System Settings Menu, here it is: start by pressing the Home button on your Joy-Con. Once the menu screen appears, scroll over and select the gear-shaped icon, which represents the Settings function.
