The iconic Beastie Boys are set to have their own documentary on Apple TV+ by Spike Jonze on April 24, 2020. The original crew share about their 40-years of friendship as well as their story throughout the years.

Origins and Accomplishments

The Beastie Boys were an American hip hop group hailing from the city of New York, formed in the year 1981. The original crew members were Michael Diamond, Adam Yauch, and Adam Horovitz. Their success and infamy in the hip hop world show on their record albums sales which was a whopping 26 million records in the US and over 50 million records worldwide. This made them the biggest-selling rap group and at the same time, Billboard started recording sales way back in 1991.

They were one of the longest-lived hip hop groups in the world. Back in 2012 they have officially become the third rap group to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 2014 was the year that the group was together and since then has disbanded for good.

The group is considered very influential in hip hop and rock scenes, artists such as Eminem, Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot are some examples of people and bands that have mentioned that they are heavily influenced by the Beasty Boys. Four albums reached the top of the Billboard charts since 1986.
