This week, Bungie was under a lot of pressure and was placed on the hot seat after fans expressed their fumed outrage regarding their move to enable power levels which would mean that s player with a high level will deal more damage and take less when against of a lower-level player.

What it means for PvP battles in-game

The same feature was implemented back in Destiny 1, but at that time, levels worked so differently. In the 3v3 PvP mode, maximum amount a player can outlevel an opponent was capped, which obviously not the case in Destiny 2. The power feature basically allows players to grind until infinite level and past the hard power cap which is pretty much known to be controversial. Though this actually helps in some instances wherein cheaters will not be able to come in and play with brand new characters, plus it will pave the way for new guns and metas.

Bungie decides to disable it

A Reddit user has also expressed outrage saying, "The world championship in chess decides that 'Hey, f*** it, let's add a new rule to the game. We'll make it so that you are allowed to stand up, whenever you want, and knock the f***out of your opponent. And if he becomes unconscious, you win!'" This basically means that the whole Artifact feature goes completely against and contradicts the whole point of the game mode and is unnecessary to implement, leading to a not-so-good outcome for Bungie's Destiny 2.

Community Manager on Reddit, Cozmo responded to this hugely downvoted Reddit reply saying that they are fully aware of the concerns regarding the Artifact power. They will be keeping a close eye while monitoring on player data and will give feedback when the season begins. Suggestions from capping the artifact power to just completely disabling and removing it have also been acknowledged. Cozmo also encouraged players to "feel free" and share their thoughts.

Shortly after this, Bungie has surprisingly changed their mind regarding the matter and Game Director Luke Smith responded in a Tweet saying that they will be disabling the Artifact for Power-enabled PvP both on Iron Banner & Trials until they can think and try to implement a better Power Cap feature which will allow them to construct Artifact and Power Pursuit while trying to avoid, as much as possible, loose Power growth in the PvP mode in the future.

Players are glad that Bungie decided to listen and remove the entirely of Artifact power from the game. If it were the other way around, this will also cause a big problem since game balance will be completely altered. This will cause players to stress about the entire feature since the power advantage that a player can have simply because they have too much time on their hands to grind XP is just not good.
