How to Watch HBO Max on Any TV With Just a Google Chromecast, Computer, or Mobile Device

HBO has some of the best shows, such as the infamous Game of Thrones, which some people believe to be among the best shows of all time despite the quite disappointing finale season. With that, many have subscribed to HBO Max, a streaming platform from the company that includes exclusive series.

However, not all devices, such as smart TVs, have an HBO Max app. Although you can grab it on your smartphone or tablet, it's still a different feeling when watching your favorite shows on TV.

But according to Business Insider, it is possible to "cast" the HBO Max shows on your smart TV--that's what we're here to teach you today.

Here's how to cast the HBO Max onto your TV with your Google Chromecast.

Of course, you'll need a Chromecast for this to work, along with your computer, an Android device, or an iPhone or iPad. Additionally, you need to ensure that the Chromecast is installed and working correctly.

How to Cast HBO Max on TV With Chromecast and Phone

Before anything else, ensure that the Chromecast and your device is connected to the same wi-fi connection and then follow these steps:

Open the HBO Max app on your smartphone and then switch your TV to the input channel for the Google Chromecast.
Choose the show you want to watch.
There's a 'Cast' button on the top right portion of the screen. Tap on that and then choose the Chromecast device you want to cast to.

The video you're watching should now appear on your TV.

How to Cast HBO Max on TV with Chromecast and Computer

If your iOS or Android devices can't run HBO Max, you can use your computer's Google Chrome browser, and as with using your phone, make sure that your Chromecast and computer are using the same network.

Then, follow these steps:

Open the HBO Max website in your Chrome browser and then switch your TV to the input channel for the Google Chromecast.
Choose the show you want to watch.
Click on the menu on the top right of the screen, which appears as three dots, and then select 'Cast...'
A pop-up menu will show, so simply choose the Chromecast you want to cast to.

After doing the steps, the video should appear on your TV.

HBO Max on Roku and Amazon Fire TV?

As of now, HBO Max is on basically every streaming platform except Roku and Amazon Fire TV, and, according to CNET, WarnerMedia hasn't yet made any deals that would bring it to the two platforms.

However, Roku and Amazon Fire TV might see HBO Max sometime in the future, especially as the two companies are among the biggest in the streaming industry, which means WarnerMedia will most likely make a deal sooner or later to broaden their reach.

You can now make do with this little hack with Chromecast and the HBO Max app to enjoy the variety of TV series and movies they have, including the Harry Potter franchise and the Studio Ghibli animated films.
