The whole world is struggling for survivalbecause of the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nowadays, our communications with the outside world, from open spaces, eateries, instructive organizations to one another has been reoriented and are changing for the betterment of the society. The restaurant industry is quickly changing, and cafesare revaluating day to day activities to cope up with the current situation.

We all are well aware of the consequences of this pandemic. We all have to make some changes in our day to day lives in order to be safe and secure. From the business point of view, it is very difficult for every industry to take necessary precautions as mentioned in the guidelines issued by the government. Earlier, every individual was free to roam around freely but current situations are not normal and everybody is advised to take proper precautions and be safe from infected surfaces. How contactless system can protect customers?

Even before this pandemic, many organisations in the market have already opted for digital devices for receiving orders and for payments. This system will become mandatory in the post COVID world as cash is touched by many individuals. Every industry will adopt digitization which is the only way out of this pandemic. One must be wondering about the process of contactless dine-in system. The whole process is mentioned below: 

  • Customer searches for their favourite restaurants nearby from their smartphones. 

  • After deciding the dine-in place, they can easily book a table from home so that they don't have to wait for their turn after reaching the destination.

  • When reached, a waiter will guide them to their booked table where order either is already served or will be served after being seated. 

  • If a customer wants to add something to their order, they just have to scan the QR code displayed on their table. The order will directly go into the kitchen. 

  • After enjoying the meal, their bill will be generated and customer can see the invoice in his smartphone. He will pay for his order online. 

  • In the end, after leaving the restaurant, he can easily rate and review the services of the restaurant. 

The seats in the restaurants will be arranged as per the government guidelines and proper social distancing will be maintained. The COVID-19 has forced every restaurant to adopt new systems with proper hygiene. Some of the things which every restaurant should take care are:

  1. Hand-sanitizers, masks and gloves are mandatory. 

  2. Cleanliness of bathrooms, kitchens and tables are to be done in every 15 minutes to disinfect objects. 

  3. Cash should not be a payment method anymore in any case.

  4. Social distancing should be maintained in the restaurant and between the people came for pickup of their order. 

  5. Physical menu should not be displayed on the table or at the counter. It should be replaced with digital menu. 

Will COVID-19 bring a new life to businesses?

No doubt, this pandemic has disrupted everyone's life to an extent where they have to rethink about their business models for generating profits. From a small business to a big organisation, everybody is going digital in some or the other way. Restaurants no longer have to have a direct contact with the customers as they can receive orders through an application and digital menu is a lot cheaper than printing them in huge numbers. 

Not only in the restaurant industry, but every organisation is bound to follow certain rules and regulations to ensure safety of the customers. In the post COVID world, people will also think twice before leaving their house and will be sceptical about touching infected objects. This crises will bring a massive change in everyone's life but this too shall pass if taken seriously.

There are some lightweight solutions which are being implemented, but for the long term survival, we need some robust features and marketing strategies to manage everything in a workplace.
