Zoom meetings can sometimes be embarrassing, especially when your co-workers can hear here the strange noises in your place. Here's a simple guide on automatically muting yourself during Zoom virtual meetings; it'll only be one checkbox away. Wired's report explained that most people across the globe are currently working in their own homes because of the global pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus.

It was also claimed that not all people have sorted out the issues associated with remote work. The annoying noise that comes from your own room can make your Zoom meetings a nightmare, including the chitchats you can hear from people participating in the virtual meeting.

You can solve this issue by auto-muting your mic when you join a meeting, which can make your Zoom meeting experience better. The guide was created after a writer and reviewer of Wired, Louryn Strampe, posted a tweet, calling out those who still don't know how to mute their mics automatically. Besides, every meeting that you join will go more smoothly if every participant knows how to activate it.

As well as your co-workers, you will never have to hear the inevitable sirens, traffic noise, or side conversation filter through while the actual speaker is trying to talk. Everyone in the Zoom meeting will be muted unless they need to speak. You can now use the bathroom during the meeting without your co-workers hearing the embarrassing toilet flush noise. Here's an easy guide that is one checkbox away.

How to automatically mute yourself during Zoom meeting?

To automatically mute your mic, you need to tap the settings wheel, which is located in the upper right corner of the Zoom app to access your account settings. Once you access your account, you need to choose the "Audio" option, which is located in the sidebar on the left, then you need to click "Mute my microphone when joining a meeting" option.

However, there will still be a problem of you will forget to mute yourself again after you unmuted your mic to speak during the meeting. You can avoid this by checking the option "Press and hold SPACE key to unmute yourself temporarily, which is similar to the "push-to-talk" feature. This can be applied if you're using a laptop or a personal computer with a space bar that you can press to speak; you'll be automatically muted once you release the space bar.

The usual host of Zoom meetings can also auto-mute the mics of the participants. You can also do this by going into your account settings and then choosing the option "Mute participants upon entry." The host can also choose the individuals they will allow to talk.
