According to Digitimes, Apple is overseeing to increase its new MacBook Pro orders toward the end of the third quarter of this year. A particular unnamed publication stated and describes the MacBook demand as an upstream supply chain. And overall, there will be 20% more MacBook Pro shipments in Q3 compared to Q2.

The Numbers

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated, "It is uncertain how strong the stay-at-home demand for notebook devices will remain in the second half of 2020, but sources from the supply chain have claimed that Apple is set to increase its new MacBook Pro orders in late third-quarter 2020. Taiwanese PCB suppliers also expect strong shipments to the notebook and server sectors in the third quarter. Memory maker Nanya Technology also expects a ramp-up in revenues generated from the server sector."

He added, "Starting in Q4 2020/Q1 2021, Apple will begin its ARM transition with the release of the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro running on Apple silicon, according to Kuo. The updated iMac - featuring a 24-inch display with thinner bezels - is scheduled to switch to ARM at a similar time."

The upstream supply chain is the term of a network of company suppliers and their own suppliers. Anything was coming into the company from raw materials to finished products and used in the output, which should be delivered to the company's consumers. This will be the upstream part of the supply chain, like Apple.

Unfortunately, the increase of orders for one supplier is not enough to complete Apple's plans, as it may equally reduce requests from another.

It has been reported that the Digitimes has a firm track record in supply chain information, but has weaker determining in the data that implies for the future products.
