Have you ever cooked rice before? We know that western countries do not usually eat rice for their meals. Its usual burgers, pasta, or even pizza. But rice? Nope.

Asians, however, live through eating this carb-full food, three times a day-- or sometimes more. So when a video of a British host cooking rice was uploaded, a year ago, every Asian eye are watching. And the cook turns out wrong in so many ways with her tutorial video. Here's everything that went wrong on the viral BBC host.

This is NOT how you cook rice

If you have an Asian friend who lives with you, let him watch this cooking rice tutorial video. We're sure he will flip out of his feet with this viral video.

British news channel BBC uploaded a 'fried rice' recipe called 'Hersha's egg-fried rice' on its Facebook page, a year ago. The post was shared over 2,000 times and watched for more than 200,000 views. So what's the issue on this tutorial? Everything that you can possibly imagine.

The video started featuring a bowl of yummy-looking fried rice, eggs, green peas, tomato, rice, and rice. However, the next steps the BBC host did was terribly wrong from the start.

Do not measure rice water with a teacup

Unknown by most foreigners who don't really eat rice, measuring water content for two cups of rice should not be measured with teacup or any cups. Though there is the basis for this method, Asians have a simple technique for measuring rice water.

Once you put the rice, measure the water content by pushing your pointing finger in the middle of the rice and water. The water level should be the same as the rice level. In this way, the rice will be cooked perfectly-- not too soggy or too crunchy.

Do not drain and then wash it

Another wrong thing about the video is how she cooked the rice, drained the water, and then washed it after. Asians do know that rice is not as clean as it is. That's why washing before cooking the rice is a must in any way of cooking this Asian food.

'Uncle Roger' reacts to the tutorial video

Just like any Asians out there, Youtuber named 'Uncle Roger' displays his disbelief in how the BBC host cooked her fried rice-- in a very non-Asian way.

"Why you measure water with a cup? Just use finger, FINGER," he says. "You put rice, put water until finger, until the first joint," shares the Youtuber. "That's how you measure the water, not with a British teacup. Haiyaaa."

Here comes another BBC rice tutorial video

Though everyone has seen how terrible was the rice tutorial video of the said BBC host, in 2018, a different BBC rice tutorial video was already uploaded on its Youtube page. However, the difference is that an Asian chef actually teaches the British woman how to cook rice properly.
