Elon Musk's new Gigafactory in Texas could have its "first completion" in May 2021 as Tesla updates and clarifies the factory's completion timeline. The company has been working for almost two months to prepare the new site it acquired in Austin, where Gigactory will be built.

But, most of Tesla's work is moving dirt since the preparation for the site's construction has been much anticipated. The place Tesla has acquired is currently the largest site, with 2,000 acres of land with different terrain that needs to be graded before the company could install the foundation.

"Pile drivers," the devices used to move support materials for buildings' foundations, were already deployed since Aug. Right now, the company released a new presentation to the local county about managing partners and project proposals' request to provide a better idea of Tesla's timeline for construction at Gigafactory Texas.
The company's document revealed the following project scheduled.
1) Beginning of "rough grading" (July 17)
2) 1st "dry-in" (Dec. 30)
3) 1st "substantial completion" (May 1, 2021)
"Dry-in" is the stage when a building is completed to allow interior works by protecting the inside structure from the different elements. On the other hand, "First Substantial Completion" is the most exciting part since Tesla could start using the factory for production to some degree during that stage.
However, it doesn't mean that the vehicles will be released from the factory in May 2021.
Gigafactory Texas' comparison with other Tesla factory
The Tesla Gigafactory in Texas is referred to as the "Cybertruck Gigafactory" since it will produce the electric pickup trucks. The company also plans to use the factory and manufacture Model 3 and Model Y electric cars to supply the East Coast demand.
According to Electrek's previous report, the new factory is just as big as "Gigafactory Nevada." It is much larger compared to other sites such as Giga Shanghai, Giga New York, Giga Berlin, Tesla Factory, and Tilburg.
Elon Musk said that the Gigafactory Texas would also be an "ecological paradise" open to the public. The CEO also claimed that there would be a hiking and biking trail, as well as a boardwalk.
