South Korean electronics company LG Electronics Inc. announced on Monday, Sept. 21, its plans to launch a hair growth device before the end of 2020.

According to a report by HypeBeast, LG conducted a clinical study with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital that showed improvement in hair density and hair thickness among people who used the helmet three times a week for 16 weeks.

This earned the approval from South Korea's ministry on drug safety for the LG Pra.L MediHair as a laser device for medical use. LG said this helmet is based on Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT), which was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat androgenetic alopecia or male-pattern baldness.

This wearable device uses 104 LED and 146 laser lights to stimulate hair follicle stem cells and support hair growth while it slows down male pattern baldness. The helmet is developed under LG's Pra.L beauty appliance brand, which was launched in 2017.

Among its products under this brand are the popular skincare devices such as the LED mask and facial cleanser. In December 2019, LG launched its all-around beauty solution with LG Pra.L Derma LED Mask, designed for users seeking to maintain youthful-looking skincare while living a fast-paced life. It features 160 LEDs, including 80 red and 80 infrared lights, to generate shortwave and longwave light that penetrates the skin at various depths.

Users just need to wear the mask for nine minutes daily to achieve radiant skin and reveal the skin's inner brightness. The 160 LEDs are carefully placed to ensure maximum effectiveness as the device targets improving the nasolabial folds while simultaneously providing deep skincare, moisturizing, and whitening.

The Derma LED Mask provides complete coverage with optimal light distribution across the face, so both light sources complement each other while deeply penetrating each layer of the skin. Meanwhile, the mask can be conveniently charged and stored using its dedicated luxurious cradle or via USB when using it while traveling. It was sold at $6,080 during its launch.

LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier

Meanwhile, by the end of August, LG also introduced PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier that leveled up the meaning of personal air. This wearable air purifier ensures hygienic life and protection amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead of settling with homemade masks that inconsistently provide protection, PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier uses two H13 HEPA filters similar to LG's home air purifier filters.

The mask, which will be available starting the fourth quarter of 2020, has Dual Fans and a patented Respiratory Sensor that allows users to take in filtered clean air while the sensor detects the user's breath cycle. It automatically adjusts its dual three-speed fans, which speed up to enhance air intake and slow down to reduce resistance when exhaling.

It is also ergonomically designed and fits snugly on the user's face while keeping it comfortable to wear for hours. It can be worn for up to eight hours in low mode and two hours in high mode.

Also, it is equipped with UV-LED lights that kill harmful germs while the LG ThinQ mobile app warns the user when the filters need to be replaced. More importantly, the LG PuriCare Wearable uses replaceable and recyclable materials, making it an ecofriendly solution.
