CableLabs recently reached out to Tech Times introducing exciting news about an upcoming 10G platform. The trial was recently conducted in Ames, Iowa, and provided an actual firsthand look at the much-awaited future of connected-living during a particular smart home event powered by the upcoming next generation of broadband technology.

In an email to Tech Times, "Mediacom Becomes First U.S. Cable Operator to Conduct Field Trial of New 10G Platform," a detailed breakdown is given regarding the next leap forward for broadband technology aimed to change the way people live, learn, play, and even work.

The upcoming monster broadband speed

On Sept. 17, in partnership with CableLabs, Mediacom Communications provided a tour of the known Mediacom 10G Smart Home that represents the first U.S. field trial of the new 10G platform. The email detailed how the partnership aims to achieve the speed offering of 10 gigabits per second and even more in the coming years as opposed to the 1-gigabit offerings of today.

According to Mediacom's very own CTO, the company has worked with CommScope and other phenomenal tech companies to move the whole 10G from just a laboratory concept to an attainable service for real-world consumers.

 

It was also stated that it is quite similar to the previous deployment of the known 1-Gig across their network back in 2017. The upcoming 10G is said to be extremely scalable within the existing network infrastructure.

It was also said that in order to simulate the different types of experiences that the 10G platform will open up, Mediacom has already installed more than 70 internet-enabled devices all within the home. A lot of these were actually pretty bandwidth-intensive applications that included stunning footage being shot by Mystery Box, all in 8K 60fps. This also resulted in encoding at a really high bit rate as well as steamed over a particular Vecima CDN server towards a Samsung QLED Smart 8K television with an ultra-high-definition inside the home!

CableLabs also presented certain holographic 3D images through a particular Looking Glass light field display that was able to be seen even without the need for any sort of glasses or headwear.

What competition?

CommScope was the one providing the broadband architecture as well as the network solutions to connect the applications together and also a 10G performance app that illustrated just how bandwidth was being used in a particular smart home.

The competition for faster internet connection has been growing as Elon Musk's SpaceX Starlink has been able to get results of an average of 100 Mbps from their satellites. Elon Musk is currently trying to send out more satellites into space, while CableLabs has been working on their smart home bandwidth for everyone's better future.
