Tesla reduces the price of its Solar Roof and updated the product's website with additional information. The company launched Solar Roof tiles version 3, also known as "Solarglass," in October 2019.

Since it was launched, Tesla saw a significant price drop in the product through faster installation and optimization. Elektrek's previous report provided Tesla Solar Roof V3's real quote comparison, revealing that the product's price dropped by 40% since 2019.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, said that he wants to accelerate the Solar Roof's production and installation ever since the product was launched. But, the company is still trying to fix the slow process since customers are still reporting the long installations.

Tesla is finding ways to generate more sales. The manufacturer even doubled the referral reward for its solar roof.

Previously, the company only offers $100 rewards for Tesla owners who refer to new solar panel installations and $100 to the new customers. However, in January, the company increased it to $250 on both sides.

And in July, Tesla even offered $400 rewards and brand new Powerwall if Tesla owners could send 10 solar referrals.

Solar Roof's price was slightly reduced earlier this summer

After Tesla updated its webpage for the solar roof tiles, it was revealed that new information was added, and the price was slightly reduced. Now, the website shows new images that are less retouched examples of the product, additional details about installation, and more.

The product's online configurator was also changed. Tesla's update showed that a 3,947-sqft roof with a 12,3 kW solar roof tile system, which previously costs $57,272, is now $54,966 before incentives.

Because of the changes, it seems like Tesla is still testing some installation processes and materials with the customers. The reduced price could somehow make up for the delayed installations.
