There are arguably a number of ways to watch Star Wars depending on if you are more into the old school canonized Star Wars or are okay with the additional movies and series added to make the plot much thicker.

Although the original six-piece movie was not even launched in chronological order, it's actually pretty artistic to think that George Lucas was able to create a really thick plot and a whole galaxy out of something that started out as a very questionable movie and there were not a lot of people who initially believed in the plot.

There are two ways to watch the series, one is going through chronological order and one is through grouping certain buildups together in order to get a richer plot at certain segments. Grouping the plots also help you focus more on the story and understand what happens within the given segment.

The chronological order

1.    The Mandalorian

2.    The Phantom Menace

3.    Attack of the Clones

4.    The Clone Wars (the animated series 2003 version)

5.    The Clone Wars (the animated series 2008 version)

6.    Revenge of the Sith

7.    Solo: A Star Wars Story

8.    Star Wars Rebels (the animated series)

9.    Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

10.  A New Hope

11.  The Empire Strikes Back

12.  Return of the Jedi

13.  Star Wars Resistance season 1

14.  The Force Awakens

15.  The Last Jedi

16.  Star Wars Resistance season 2

17.  The Rise of Skywalker

If you're wondering how to group these stories in order to get a richer understanding of the whole story, here's what you should do:

Pre-Jedi

watch this to get a better feel of the whole Star Wars setup

1.    The Mandalorian

2.    The Mandalorian 2

3.    The Phantom Menace

These movies/series help set the tone getting you to understand what really goes on within the Star Wars universe.

Jedi

this part surrounds the adventures of the Jedis

1.    Attack of the Clones

2.    The Clone Wars (the animated series 2003 version)

3.    The Clone Wars (the animated series 2008 version)

4.    Revenge of the Sith

You can actually pick between the animated series if you would rather the 2003 version or the 2008 version but the 2008 gives more insight and follows the cannon more.

In between

this part talks about the space between the Jedi's fall and the when Luke Skywalker stepped into the scene

1.    Solo: A Star Wars Story

2.    Star Wars Rebels (the animated series)

3.    Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

These three stories help make the plot richer preparing you to grasp just how serious the situation for the Rebels actually are and how the empire has dominated almost the entire galaxy.

Return of the Jedi

this follows both Luke and Leah and is arguably the most popular segment of the Star Wars universe

1.    A New Hope

2.    The Empire Strikes Back

3.    Return of the Jedi

These three have to be watched continuously so you get the flow of the plot. This is where the story of the famous Darth Vader ends but the story of the Rebels continues.

After the Jedi

although this part is post Vader, this part is still important if you want to see how the Rebels turn their fate around and stand up to the Empire

1.    Star Wars Resistance season 1

2.    The Force Awakens

3.    The Last Jedi

4.    Star Wars Resistance season 2

5.    The Rise of Skywalker

Although there have been some negative comments about this segment of Star Wars, it is still worth watching if you are curious how the Rebels stand up to the Empire altogether.
