Seems like NASA isn't the only space agency that's keeping themselves busy nowadays. Just recently, the ESA or European Space Agency announced that they are looking for people to help them unveil the whole mysteries of the solar system and also of the universe. The ESA is apparently looking for Post-Doc research fellows in the known Space Sciences and Exploration. It is said that the closing date for this application period is October 30.

Oliver J Hall's announcement

A particular Oliver J Hall retweeted this announcement following up with help of his own. He invited people to come join them at the ESA where he said that they have such a supportive and also a diverse environment that really does help people put their own research at the forefront. Other advantages of working for the ESA is said to include a super-competitive salary (imo) which is something great for those who want to focus solely on their research without having to worry too much about financial issues. This is something that the ESA recognizes.

Oliver J Hall then invited people to either email or DM him about any possible questions about the whole application process or about the working environment at the European Space Agency. He also invited people who are PhD students trying to apply for certain postdoc programs. It seems like the ESA is really pushing forward looking for the best of the best! Oliver J Hall then said that he would be happy to both help and share materials he possessed to help those people.

The question is, who is this Oliver J Hall? Aside from knowing that he is affiliated with ESA, he actually has quite an interesting involvement in science in general. According to his Twitter page, he is an ESTEC research fellow who loves stars, stats, and also python. He is also currently a writer for astrobites.

Here's how to apply to ESA and what they're looking for

In order to apply for the European Space Agency, you'll have to go to the official ESA website and check out their careers segment. The specifications of the Research Fellow that the ESA is looking for consists of somebody with a PhD title even before starting the whole Research Fellowship and the applications that are submitted by the candidates within the five years of receiving their own PhD are preferred.

The languages preferred by the European Space Agency are both English and French and it is also said that knowledge of yet another Member State language would definitely be an asset.
