It was recently announced on Twitter that the Russians are now working towards developing reusable rockets aimed to run by the year 2026. The Roscosmos State Corporation as well as the Progress Rocket and the Space Center have signed a specific contract on October 5, 2020 for the futuristic development of a particular draft design of a certain space rocket complex along with a newer Amur launch vehicle.

The carrier is said to become Russia's very first reusable methane rocket. This is one of the features of the known project "Amur" which will be created for a given cost of the launch services at $22 million. Also, the actual rocket will be receiving an unprecedented level of strong reliability.

Russia's plan to make reusable rockets

It is also planned to launch a certain promising launch vehicle from the whole Vostochny cosmodrome in the whole Amur Region. The program was previously created for making the carrier and was then approved at a certain meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the known State Corporation along with the participation of the General Director of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin.

The ideology of the whole new carrier will be making sure that the rocket is capable of returning and can be used again and again. This is the main foundation of which Elon Musk created SpaceX on.

Elon Musk apparently does not mind?

Elon Musk himself replied to the known Tweet saying that he is quite excited for the reusable rockets to replace most rockets in general. His tweet stated that this is a step in the right direction but they should definitely aim for the rockets to become fully reusable by the year 2026.

It was also stated by Elon Musk that much larger rockets would also make sense for the literal economics of scaling the space exploration industry. It was said that the goal should definitely be to be able to minimize the cost per useful ton to later on orbit or at best, it will only serve a niche market.

Russia's strength in the space industry

Russia is a strong contender in the Space industry and instead of fighting through the use of conventional rockets, they have decided to adopt SpaceX's technique in order to further their space exploration endeavors.

It does not seem like Elon Musk is threatened by this. In fact, he shares the same philosophy even with Tesla which is why he does not hide the blueprints and make them available for other car companies to copy. Elon Musk has stated that his priority is to change the world and not necessarily to dominate the market but dominating the market is still an indicator of success which is why he has still remained quite competitive.
