Before the upcoming release of Mario Kart Live: Grand Prix for Switch on October 16, here are some must-know details of the new game. These are based on the FAQ published by Nintendo on October 10, which include some game overview, cost, kart details, and set up requirements.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Overview

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit takes Mario Kart to a whole level of fun as players can now race against each other using a physical kart using a Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite systems.

Players control the kart using the Nintendo Switch while watching the kart's camera live feed on the TV or Nintendo Switch game screen. The kart can be affected in various ways such as stops when it hit an item or reacts to boosts.

To connect the kart to the Nintendo Switch, a QR code will be shown on the Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit software screen. Players would need to scan the QR code using kart's camera, so the kart is paired with the Nintendo Switch.

The Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit set includes the kart (which is either Mario or Luigi), gates needed to create the course, and the arrow signboards, which are option to use. One player can play with one set, but a maximum of four people can play at a time, provided that they have individual physical karts, Nintendo Switch systems, and downloaded game.

Meanwhile, the game has no online features and the karts can only be used indoor because its exposure to elements like dirt and weather could impact the kart's longevity and performance.

Game Cost

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit can be purchased for $99.99 for each set and players can choose between Mario Set and Luigi Set. Meanwhile, the game's software is free to download from the Nintendo eShop. Just follow the instructions included in the set.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Kart Details

While the karts are designed to endure reasonable indoor use, it is best to play it on a flat, hard surface to get the best gameplay experience. However, the physical kart will also work on carpets, rugs, and other types of flooring without long fibers or that are not heavily textured designs. They can also handle bumping into some household items that are used in designing the course, including blocks, boxes, and furniture.

The kart's battery can last for about 90 minutes of continuous racing at 150cc. It takes approximately 3.5 hours to be completely charged, although it may take a longer time if the kart is connected to the dock together with the Nintendo Switch console which is being used.

Aside from the USB charging cable and the Nintendo Switch dock, the kart can also be charged through the Nintendo Switch AC Adapter. When charging with a home electrical outlet, it is advised to use a Nintendo USB AC Adapter, which is sold separately.

Set-up Requirements

To experience the best gameplay, it is recommended to have at least 12' x 10' of space, but courses can be customized to fit in different home environments.

Racing on a flat surface is highly recommended as elevated surfaces can affect the gameplay and kart's performance.Also, when racing, karts are advised to remain within 15 feet or less from the Nintendo Switch system.

The game can be played on the TV screen through a Nintendo Switch and dock, which will allow families to watch players race on TV. Meanwhile, the TV mode is not available for Nintendo Switch Lite.
