The country's decision came just a few weeks before its 5G network auctions. Because of the sudden ban, the nation now joins other western countries that already restricted Chinese companies' equipment or device manufacturers due to security concerns.

The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) conducted a security assessment and discovered that Chinese products could potentially harm the country's security. Sweden's telecommunications agency consulted the Swedish Security Service and the Swedish Armed Forces before making the decision.

Sweden's 5G auction

The country's 5G auction will offer 80MHz in the 2.3 GHz band and 320 MHz in the 3.5GHz band. Four of its leading telcos, including Net4Mobility, Telia Sverige, Teracom, and Hi3G, were already approved to join the auction.

The telco companies must provide a minimum bid of SEK 100 million or $11.4 million per license of 20 MHz, SEK 1.5 billion or $171 million for spectrum in the 3.5Ghz band, SEK 20 million or $2 million per license of 10 MHz, and for the 2.3 GHz band, and another SEK 160 million or $18 million.

The Daily Mail UK reported that Isabel and a small group of protestors walked from the Jing Organics health food store to 8 Acacia Street in the Arts & Industry Estate. The activity was conducted after the Byron Bay Council voted in the majority for a 5G upgrade.

"Together we can keep Byron Bay SAFE, especially for our children and the bees!" said the anti-vaxxer actress.

She was one of the protest's guest speakers, who was featured in promotional material and fliers advertising the march.
