Apple devices are not the most affordable gadgets, but despite being expensive, Apple enthusiasts always get the newest iPhone or iPad the company has to offer since the features the devices provide are still worth the money you pay for.

Falling From a Plane

However, because of their price point, many iPhone users do everything they can to keep their devices from accidentally dropping on the floor, since even a few feet up in the air could smash the phone screen into pieces.

It could be disastrous for most owners, but one iPhone owner got extremely lucky.

According to 9to5Mac, Brazilian documentary filmmaker Ernesto Galiotto was on a plane, flying for his project over a beach located in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro.

The filmmaker was trying to capture some images of the scenery with one hand over a small plane window, but the wind was strong up there and Galiotto lost his grip on his iPhone 6S, which then proceeded to fall down from the sky.

Galiotto was 2,000 feet up in the air, so a fall like that would have broken any device, especially an Apple device that isn't exactly known for its durability.

Surviving With Only a Silicone Protector

Nevertheless, the filmmaker still checked the Find My app to find his phone, and surprisingly, he found out that his iPhone 6S is still turned on and was located somewhere on the beach, so he went to the indicated location and found his phone still intact and still working.

Speaking to G1, Galiotto said (translated), "I had faith that I would recover it. I thought, 'If it didn't fall in the water, we'll find it. For a few meters I could have hit a person - and, at that height I was flying, 2,000 feet, it was going to be a tragedy, can you imagine? But it wasn't a tragedy, it had many emotions."

Much more surprising is the fact that the iPhone 6S got away with the fall with only a few scratches--and it was only protected by a regular silicone phone protector.

Even Galiotto was so shocked by the outcome of the story that he said it's a story that if someone tells somebody, they won't believe it.

But as proof, the iOS device was able to record the fall from the plane, and it's been published together with the filmmaker's interview with G1 (in Portuguese) as well as on Galiotto's Youtube channel.

Another iPhone 6S Survival Story

However, as it turns out, this was not the first time an iPhone 6S was able to survive such a fall.

Last year, 9to5Mac also reported a photographer who was flying a plane for an aerial tour of South Iceland when his phone also fell accidentally from the aircraft where it fell 200 feet from the ground to rocky terrain with an overflowing river.

But 13 months later, he received a call from a hiker that apparently picked up his phone in the middle of the terrain, so he went back for it and discovered that the iOS device was able to survive the fall after all.
