Facebook has been repeatedly attacking Apple as of late but this particular company has reportedly come up with another level of attack as they run full-page ads intentionally targeting Apple. The full-page ads were reportedly launched in at least three different US newspapers.

Facebook launches ads

According to an article by 9to5mac, the ads claimed that Facebook itself is standing up against the popular iPhone maker on the behalf of other small businesses. Bloomberg reported the story but it is noted that The Verge was able to get the copy of this particular ad.

It was stated that Facebook had attacked Apple in a number of full-page newspaper ads on Wednesday. The claims were that the iPhone maker's own anticipated mobile software will change around the said data gathering as well as the targeted advertising which will be bad for those small businesses.

Ads spread through popular newspapers

The ad was slated to run over in the popular Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and even the Washington Post. The headline notes that the company is allegedly standing up to Apple for the sake of small businesses everywhere. They were noted to home on the certain changes that are upcoming for Apple's iOS 14 OS that would curb the major ability of certain companies just like Facebook to be able to gather data about its mobile users and also ply them with its advertising.

The attack reportedly relates to the main fact that the new iOS will next year force other apps to ask for permission as to whether or not they would want to use the ad-tracking. It is then expected that most of these users will then refuse, which would then mean that the apps won't really be able to offer those personalized ads too easily. Ads reflecting certain user interests can reportedly earn additional money for app developers compared to generic ads.

Facebook VS Apple

The change will then reportedly have a significant impact on even Facebook, as the current ads that it carries inside the app will then become worthless. The social network now claims, however, that it actually does not have its personal interest in mind but instead is now standing up for those small businesses.

The ad even mentioned that 44% of the small to medium businesses all started to increase their usage of certain personalized ads on the social media when the pandemic happened according to a recent Deloitte study. It was said that without these personalized ads, Facebook data would show that most of the average small business advertiser would then see a cut of above 60% in their own sales for every single dollar they choose to spend.

The ad then states that small businesses do deserve to be heard and that Facebook is calling those interested to join them against Apple at fb.com/SpeakUpForSmall. The article by 9to5mac, however, notes that this move is an "unconvincing tack" that the company has actually taken before. Mark Zuckerberg had already made the claim while also warning investors of the most likely hit to its very own ad revenues.
