Sony has just recently announced its roster of free Playstation Plus games for January 2021. Included in the set is "Maneater" which is exclusive for PS5, and two available games for PS4 and PS5 which are "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" and the RPG that will be under review- the "Greedfall".
'Greedfall' Background
"Greedfall" is an open-world RPG set in the 17th century. It has taken its inspiration and elements from other famous games such as The Witcher 3 wild Hunt and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It's available in platforms for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. the game is produced by Spiders, a video game company with their games powered by Silk Engine. Accoding to the producer, "Greedfall" has a very strong focus on its RPG identity.

The Game Proper
Its setting is in a mysterious remote land with magical creatures like monsters, and supernatural beings. Burdened with a plague, you take the role as De Sardet, a consul finding a cure for the sickness that has stricken the land. The remote land is rumored to be filled with treasures and resources, but are protected by the natives empowered by supernatural gods.
Along with his cousin, De Sardet finds the cure in an island where they encounter numerous blunders. In a quest to find the cure, De Sardet is faced with the biggest challenge of his life: choosing between the natives of the land and his people. As a player, you can have many ways to solve the problem which can greatly alter the ending of the game. Combat is a non-negotiable offense, but you can also choose other options such as deception and diplomacy.
'Greedfall' Review
"Greedfall" has a generally good review from many. In fact, they've been nominated with numerous awards such as Best RPG 2019, Best Artistic Design, Best Message-Bearer Game, and many more. However, a first-hand experience of the game might show you Spiders might be too promising.
The game is generally likeable. The plot is amazing and the concept of the game's story itself is enough to challenge you. However, playing the game itself has some issues to fix. Different movements and combat styles are quite difficult to figure out. It might take a lot of practice, but the lagging movements of the characters says otherwise. It may be a serious issue within the game.
Another extremely astounding thing about "Greedfall" is its graphics. Inspired by French Art, the graphics are extremely great. However, just like the movements, it can get buggy at times, where the character's mouths don't sync with the words. If this doesn't annoy you, then it should not be a big deal. The side ventures are important and interesting. It makes the whole plot understandable and memorable. It shows the real challenge about dealing with colonization.

The problems are more technical, rather than inherent at the "heart" of the game. The laggy graphics and movements at times just ruins it to be a 10/10. The story line about consuls and politicians highlight the essence of the game which is about diplomacy and colonization. It has a unique theme and resembles that of watching a real movie. Overall the game could have a generous 8/10.
Despite its downfalls, Sony promises a more improved version of the game as the new year arrives. Note that the game has a rating of Mature ages 17+. According to Sony, the game offers are available for download starting January 5, 2021 until February 1 2021.
