The Volkswagen Group boss known as Herbert Diess has recently joined Twitter on Wednesday and his very first tweet was a seemingly light trolling of the popular Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The Tweet was directed to Elon Musk and even tagged him in a Twitter post.
Who is Herbert Diess
According to the article by TheVerge, Diess had written his tweet starting by giving a shoutout to Twitter then saying that he is there to make an impact with the VW Group especially when it comes to political issues. Diess then stated that he is also there to get a chunk out of "your market shares" while tagging Elon Musk.
Diess then continued saying that their ID.3 as well as the e-tron have both won the very first markets over in Europe. He then ended that he is looking forward to future productive discussions. This strong move directed to Elon Musk is quite timely as VW Group and Tesla go head to head over in China according to an article by Bloomberg.
Diess has previously had to settle criminal charges as of last year that were related to his own role in the said Dieselgate emissions scandal according to France24. This was referencing how the very first mass-market EVs of its own VW and Audi brands both performed well in Europe (mostly in Germany) during their debut year. This had cost Tesla a chunk of its market share within the continent.
As of the moment, Tesla even dropped its prices over on the Model 3 over in Europe according to an article by Electrek.co. Most of the automotives as well as the other big-brand CEOs that use Twitter use it in a certain obligatory manner. They usually just issue statements or comments regarding new products or maybe even initiatives but are pretty much absent from their daily churn.
VW Herbert Dies vs Tesla Elon Musk
It's quite hard to imagine how Diess, who had previously praised Musk some time in the past according to a story by CNBC, doing much else besides just playfully jabbing Elon Musk on Twitter just this Wednesday. Well, Diess has just barely made it out alive from a major power struggle that supposedly played out within the Volkswagen Group according to an article by WSJ.
Diess currently remains the top boss but he was stripped of his previous title of CEO of the VW brand. This is majorly a part of the major software problems that the previous ID 3 had when it first rolled out. There are also stranger things that have reportedly happened to Diess but the main idea that he would have to make his executives all attend a certain syntegration workshop makes things even more interesting.
Musk, on the other hand, has supposedly spent about two years of possibly violating a certain court order which stated that he is supposed to have a lawyer pre-screen certain tweets he makes about Tesla.
