Xbox Games with Gold Promotion February 2021: Five Game Releases Including 'Resident Evil'

Xbox Live Gold subscribers have a new batch of free games that they can download as February 2021 starts. The Xbox Games with Gold for this month also bring the Xbox Series X into the mix. In January 2021, the Games with Gold only focused on Xbox, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

For February, there are five free games that are available to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers, here are the games and the dates on when you can download them.

Gears 5 (February 1-28)

"Gears 5" is a video game that is focused on horror and it goes in deeper into the mysterious origins of the Locusts and the role of humans during the conflict. The game has a very competitive multiplayer mode and it also has numerous cooperative offerings, including Horde mode.

"Gears 5" is more into storytelling more than "Gears 4", as The Coalition is now leading the game franchise. Developers promise that "Gears 5" is completely different than "Gears 4", according to Venture Beat.

Resident Evil (February 1-28)

Xbox Live added "Resident Evil" in its February lineup since "Resident Evil Village" is just launched, according to The Verge. The "Resident Evil" that is included with Games with Gold is the remaster of the video game from a few years ago.

"Resident Evil" is a tense and smaller-scale game than the other versions, but this original one emphasizes classic horror over action for spooky experience. It also introduces players to some of the best characters in the franchise like Chris and Jill.

Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition (February 16-March 15)

"Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition" may not be as popular as the other games on the list, but the pixel art action is critically-acclaimed and mysterious adventure that has elements of Metroidvania games.

If you enjoyed Celeste, you are definitely going to love Dandara, and there is more focus on Dandara's narrative in this game, according to Epic Games.

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb (February 1-15)

"Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb" was first introduced on the original Xbox. The game takes place in the 1930s in China and it is a classic action-adventure that includes a scene in Istanbul, Turkey.

Players will have access to Indiana's equipment, including the classic whip. There is also hand-to-hand combat system included, so you can go on a full-on fight in the game.

Lost Planet 2 (February 16-28)

"Lost Planet 2" is scheduled to be released in mid-February and is the last game on the list. Capcom's game will take players out of the cold environment of the original game and introduced into a warmer weather.

However, the game keeps the first game's amazing blend of exploration and third-person combat. It is considered to be the best out of the trilogy, the third game being released three years after the "Lost Planet 2" was launched.

Aside from these five video games, one of the Xbox Games with Gold games for January 2021 can still be downloaded by subscribers. Xbox One version "Dead Rising", the zombie survival-horror game from Capcom, is available until February 15, 2021.
