The demand for video cards continues to rise, as newer models are launched through the years. This time, one of the latest graphics cards, Nvidia RTX 3080 has been restocked. Gamers, who especially know how craving it is to see a fresh graphics card for their gaming computers or laptops, are always the first ones to be baited by the high-end card.

This time, stop for a while and learn why you should not buy yet an Nvidia RTX 3080 card.

Nvidia RTX 3080's Bad News

Alternate.de, a German-based hardware retailer issued a warning on its website that they have received bad news from Nvidia and its manufacturers. The RTX 3000 series cards will be in shortage for the Q1 of the year.

According to a report by Digital Trends, a user might only weigh the options between downgrading to RTX 3070 or upgrading the video card to RTX 3080 since the availability of the graphics cards worsens this 2021.

Alternate noted that the orders of RTX 3080 at $699 is exceedingly high on their website. The same thing went with the RTX 3060 Ti, which met a high demand rate given a price of $399, as per Tom's Hardware.

If you are torn already to replace your old graphics card, chances are you will run to RTX 3090 and pay $1,499 or spend $499 for the average quality RTX 3070. For the gamers, this will be good news since the availability of these two graphic cards are guaranteed, so just pick your poison between them.

Most likely, the shortage of the graphics card is a consequence of the pandemic. Many people preferred a safer workplace like homes and nearby offices to avoid contracting coronavirus. In this regard, the need to sustain their jobs will come at a cost of well-functioning equipment, which should be able to carry over their tasks on the computer.

The supply-and-demand cycle should circulate as a natural law in the market. Since it serves as a determinant of the product's price, consumers should make sure to purchase the product as early as possible.

While there is no guarantee that the supply will be sufficient enough for the buyers, it could be an advantage for them since it will come on a first-come-first-serve basis. The worst thing that could happen is for its price to be doubled in the future.

Before Nvidia reported the shortage of RTX 3080, it has been revealed that the Sta. Clara-based tech company has been experiencing a shortage of raw materials. The shortage of GDDR6 memory was one of the reasons why GPU stocks continue. However, the shortage will not have an effect on RTX 3080 as it uses a different GPU, GDDR6, which is the same unit utilized by the ultra-premium RTX 3090.

Nvidia RTX 3080's shortage also affects RTX 3080 laptops

According to Tom's Guide, gamers will always aim for the most advanced laptops for gaming, like the RTX 3080 laptops. When they learned that the shortage of Nvidia RTX 3080 is now enveloping the market, the only chance to get a feel of a premium gaming experience is to buy a laptop with Nvidia RTX 3080 card.

It turns out that aside from the gamers, cryptocurrency miners are also buying the laptops to build mining rigs. The ultramodern feature of the product suits the crypto miners' demand since some laptops can now surpass desktop computers when it comes to performance.
