Tesla has recently announced a brief update for the Model 3 and Model Y cars' prices, which were made cheaper than before. You can now get one with a starting price of under $37,000. Find out the differences in the trims of the two models.

How Much Does Tesla Model 3 Cost Now?

Upon the price update noted by Electrek, Tesla decided to lower down the price of the Model 3. Take a look at where you should start and explore the price differences that vary for three trims.

  • Formerly priced at $37,990, the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus can now be purchased at $36,990.
  • Formerly priced at $46,990, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range (AWD) can now be bought at $46,990.
  • Formerly priced at $54,990, the Tesla Model 3 Performance (AWD) can now be obtained at $55,990.

For the pricing, you will notice that the Model 3 Long Range only maintained its regular price. The distinction of it from the Standard Range Plus, besides a $10,000 difference, is the enhanced battery pack made bigger together with an extra motor. This will further give higher voltage, which will translate to more power.

You can see that the Model 3 Performance came up with a higher price because last month, its top speed was upgraded to 162 mph in exchange for dropping its driving range at 315 miles.

How Much Does Tesla Model Y Cost?

On the other hand, the Model Y has also received an update on its price. Even though it was just made available last January, its price has already decreased by $2,000, a big slash to its original value. Here are the updated prices and the differences made after the update, which apply to all three cars' trims.

  • Tesla Model Y Standard Range can now be bought for $39,990 compared to its old price of $41,990.
  • Tesla Model Y Long Range (AWD) can now be purchased for $49,990 instead of its past value of $49,990.
  • Tesla Model Performance (AWD) can now be acquired for $60,990 compared to its old price of $59,990.

Again, we have witnessed the disparity when it comes to the Tesla car price. The Model Y Long Range retained its original price like in the case of Model 3. However, the Performance edition saw a $1,000 increase in the price like the previous version of the first model car.

For the past months, Tesla has been tweaking the Model Y price so it could catch up with the updates going on in Model 3. For its feature, the fresh center console was seen in the Model Y, which was previously adapted by the Model 3.

Are Tesla Cars Really Environmentally-Friendly?

According to Inhabitat, Elon Musk's electric cars are proven to contribute less pollution than traditional vehicles that emit a lot of harmful gases in the air. People are always in-between when the discussion involves its environmental impact.

May questioned the disposal of the cars' batteries because it could generate toxic wastes. But, according to the environmental site, they are recyclable. They could be used to store more energy for the years that will come through replacing the old cell with the new ones.
