Fans have been waiting for the official release of "Elder Scrolls VI" for some time now, and it has been 10 years since the release of "Elder Scroll V: Skyrim" into the PC and game consoles. However, Bethesda has taken a different approach to the open-world dragon-slaying genre as it announces a new project for the series.

'Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Boardgame' is Announce

PCGamer reports that "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Boardgame" is an epic co-operative board game of adventure across Skyrim for one-four players. Anyone interested in playing can sign up on the game's funding page to be notified of new developments as they emerge.

"Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Boardgame" will be available as a preview on Tabletop Simulator at some point before it is crowdfunded, with Gamefound taking the task sometime in the future. The upcoming board game is a part of the ongoing partnership between Bethesda and board game and RPG publishers Modiphius Entertainment.

The latter company previously made miniatures games "The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms: and "Fallout: Wasteland Warfare," and they are supposed to be publishing tabletop roleplaying games based on "Fallout" and "Dishonored."

Modiphius Entertainment also had other projects in the past, such as "Vampire: The Masquerade," 'Dishonored," and even "Kung Fu Panda." The company also handled the English version of "Mutant," which the video game "Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden" is based on.

Meanwhile, Modiphius Entertainment did not comment much else about the project but noted that "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Boardgame" has been completely designed and that it will be shown off in Tabletop Simulator during the campaign so those interested can see how it works. The game will also be heading to distribution after the campaign ends, so players will be able to buy it they do not back it.

"Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Boardgame" will take place in Skyrim itself, and it will be more of an adventure-style game than the miniatures-based "The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms" game that Modiphius already announced. Plus, the company also mentioned that players might use "Call to Arms" figures for this game in some fashion, as GameSpot reports.

'Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Boardgame' Release Date

Cogconnected reports that there is still no news about the board game's release date or its gameplay as of today. Other than that, it will be a co-operative board for one - four players. Whether it will follow the plot of "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" itself or will be in the same region.

It is also possible that "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Boardgame" will take place on other further expansion packs of the game in Tamriel, such as Elsweyr or the Summerset Isles. However, this news is still unconfirmed.

Those unfamiliar with adventure board games focus on moving characters from a point on a map to accomplish goals. Things such as fights or quests are usually done with one or two dice rolls, and equipment or money is the reward. Players rack up points, and the person with the most points wins.
