New FPS Boost feature

Microsoft also mentioned through a blog post on Xbox Wire that some of the games mentioned "will also benefit from FPS Boost on Xbox Series X / S," adding they will "have more to share on that soon."

This feature makes certain backward-compatible Xbox One titles to have their frame rate doubled or quadrupled when played on Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S without developers having to put in any additional work.

However, the full list of titles that will be supported by the newly launched FPS boost feature are yet to be revealed, but Microsoft assured that they will announce more games that supports this feature in the near future.

The news comes after Microsoft finalized its $7.5 billion Bethesda acquisition earlier this week, and previously hinted that "some new titles in the future" would be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.

The future of Xbox and Xbox Game Studios

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox brand, explained that Xbox and Game Pass is the center of the Bethesda deal. He made it clear that the goal of the acquisition is to deliver great exclusive games for the Xbox customer.

Spencer also clarified that Bethesda games will not disappear from other platforms, but will instead continue to support the titles regardless of the platform.

"The root of this partnership that we're building - and the creative capability we'll be able to bring to market for Xbox customers is going to be the best it's ever been for Xbox after we're done here," he said during the roundtable event.

His statement made it clear that the long-term goal for Bethesda is for the company to create exclusive games for platforms that will support Xbox Game Pass. As of the moment, these platforms are Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, and Android phones. iOS devices are expected to support the subscription service in spring 2021.
